Connection to our Seniors
The relationship that we have with our senior citizens should be preserved, revered, and respected. The senior community offers us the guidance and wisdom necessary to be a whole community. My great great grandmother was a member of the senior center starting in the 1970’s, her long standing commitment to the town and the seniors gave me the respect and reverence to know that the seniors are an integral part of our community. When we treat specific groups as pawns in a political ideology, we negate their wisdom and dedication to our community. The seniors have asked the city to respect their 99-year lease to stay in the senior center; it should be honored and kept by all councils moving forward. The buck doesn't stop there; the seniors have asked for additional upkeep and maintenance. The city needs to partner with the county to work on a long-term care facility, allowing many to continue living in Summit County as life evolves.
